Job Description:

The Coordinator for Teaching Services is responsible for admissions and certification applications for all programs leading to Kentucky educator licensure through the Office of Professional Educator Services (OPES). The OPES oversees teacher education admissions, clinical field placements, student teaching placements, and certification applications to ensure compliance with the Education Professional Standards Board and KY statutes and regulations. The OPES collaborates with stakeholders involved in preparing education candidates which include staff and faculty in The School of Teacher Education, The School of Leadership and Professional Studies, the Professional Education Unit, and WKU regional campuses.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage all admissions and certification applications for all programs leading to educator licensure to ensure compliance with the Education Professional Standards Board and KY statutes and regulations.
  • Enter bi-weekly praxis data into Banner/TOP Net to ensure compliance with the Education Professional Standards Board and federal regulations.
  • Manage the processing and on-going monitoring of Master of Arts in Teaching temporary provisional certificates, mentor agreements and certification
  • Coordinate the initiation and final processing of Alternative Teacher Certification Applications, i.e. Proficiency Evaluations, Highly Qualified, etc.
  • Collaborate with office staff and faculty to provide customer service to current and prospective students for admissions, clearance, KECS and portfolio system.
  • Provide customer service to current and prospective students who are seeking educator certifications
  • Coordinate and upload confirmation of programs of study and Educator Licensure Plans into KECS and/or Banner
  • Support the CEBS Dean's Office to complete required federal and accreditation reporting.
  • Support the clearance requirements and fieldwork data for all programs leading to educator licensure in the Portfolio program
  • Support the implementation of the portfolio data management system
  • Support Fieldwork placement in local school districts
  • Other duties as assigned

Hourly Rate: $20.52
