Special Education Aide

Job Description

For immediate hire. New Spring Special Education Services is seeking an Educational Aide/Tutor.

The aide will provide instruction and support with behavior, academic, social skills, and daily life skills. The aide will be responsible for implementing IEP goals and intervention services.

The aide will be carrying out the homeschool curriculum for the students based on IEP goals. Ongoing supervision and training will be provided at least every other week, with more support at the onset of work.

This particular aide assignment is for an adult female who has disabilities and mental health challenges. Client needs support preparing for the GED at the end of this school year.

Possibility of additional hours with other clients.

We also have two other aide positions available working with students with Autism and located in the Clintonville area and Richwood, Ohio.

Job requirements:

• 48 College Credit hours with a transcript. Optional:
  Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an education or related field.
• Excellent attendance is required for this position. Excessive tardiness, no call/no show will result in termination of employment.
• Must pass background checks for Ohio BCI and FBI.
• Must be able to reliably commute to client home in Westerville, OH.
• This position will be mentally and/or physically demanding at times due to client intervention needs, including behavior issues.
• Ongoing training will be provided. Any applicant must be able to pass a state and/or federal background check.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with individuals with disabilities and familiarity with IEP’s.
• Educational background with a special education focus.
• Ability to be flexible and open to student behaviors and ability to not take student behaviors personally.
• Pay rate for this position is dependent upon education and experience, starting at $18/hour.
