Summary

The Coordinator of Parish and School Communications manage media for both the parish and its preschool and elementary school to build a unified message of the activities and events on the St Catharine Campus. This individual bridges the gap between church ministries and school families, ensuring all print and digital messaging aligns with Catholic Church teachings, parish mission, and diocesan guidelines.
The ideal candidate balances weekly parish publication deadlines with the unique storytelling and marketing needs of a Catholic Community.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Weekly Bulletin:
    Design, write, edit, and submit the weekly parish bulletin on time, utilizing Canva or other online tools to create engaging flyers, announcements and event notifications.
  • Mass Announcements:
    Draft weekend pulpit announcements and seasonal flyers for Holy Days of Obligation, parish-school family Masses, and Church and school events.
  • Sacramental & School Notices:
    Coordinate announcements for school-based sacraments (First Reconciliation, First Communion) alongside parish-wide celebrations.
  • Website Management:
    Maintain parish and school websites and keep current including calendars, Mass times, ministry contacts and meeting times, tuition information, and registration links.
  • Social Platforms:
    Schedule consistent, faith-focused content on Facebook and Instagram, highlighting parish ministries, classroom activities, sports, and school events to include brief video content from clergy and other parish leaders.
  • Email & Text Marketing:
    Design and distribute weekly parish e-newsletters (e.g., Flocknote), support and coordinate with school staff on parent broadcast alerts.
  • School Marketing:
    Create promotional materials, flyers, and digital campaigns for school open houses, Catholic Schools Week, and student recruitment efforts.
  • Media Assets:
    Capture or source high-quality photography and video highlights from parish liturgies, school assemblies, and sports events.
  • Safe Environment:
    Enforce absolute compliance with diocesan Safe Environment policies (e.g., VIRTUS), ensuring strict adherence to parent photo-release forms and student privacy laws (FERPA).
  • Campus Displays:
    Maintain indoor digital monitors, school entryway boards, and outdoor signage.
Qualifications & Skills Required
  • Education:

    Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related experience.
  • Experience:

    1-2 years of experience managing digital platforms, copy editing, or graphic design (experience in an educational or parish setting is a plus).
  • Design:
    High proficiency with Canva, Microsoft Office/Publisher, or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • CMS & Tech:
    Hands-on experience navigating website platforms and school/parish communication tools.

    Practicing Catholic in good standing with a working knowledge of Catholic doctrine, vocabulary, and the liturgical calendar.
  • Time Management:
    Ability to balance competing priorities from both the parish office and the school administration while meeting strict weekly deadlines.

    Absolute commitment to maintaining pastoral and student confidentiality regarding financial, personal, and academic data.
Physical & Schedule Demands
  • Work Location:

    On-site workspace availability required.
  • Schedule:

    Flexible hours, requiring occasional evening or weekend attendance to cover school open houses, parish town halls, or major liturgies.
