About the Role

The EH&S Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a strong safety culture within an electroplating manufacturing facility. This role serves as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, oversees environmental reporting and permitting, leads incident investigations, and supports continuous improvement initiatives including 5S and internal audits.

The EH&S Manager is also the process leader for the company’s wastewater treatment operations.

Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance & Agency Interaction
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local EH&S regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and RCRA requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, inspectors, and auditors.
  • Prepare, submit, and maintain required regulatory reports, permits, and documentation (e.g., air, water, waste, chemical inventories).
  • Manage hazardous waste programs, including classification, storage, labeling, manifests, and disposal.
Environmental and Wastewater Treatment and Process Management
  • Develop processes/training for effective and effective industrial wastewater treatment operations related to electroplating processes, including monitoring, sampling, record‑keeping, and system performance.
  • Engage in wastewater treatment troubleshooting, as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with discharge permits and pretreatment standards.
  • Coordinate with external laboratories and service providers as needed.
  • Support pollution prevention and waste minimization initiatives.
Health & Safety Programs
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs including hazard communication, lockout/tagout, confined space, PPE, emergency response, and chemical safety.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action implementation.
  • Track and analyze safety metrics, trends, and leading indicators.
  • Conduct internal EH&S audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support and lead 5S and workplace organization initiatives to improve safety, efficiency, and housekeeping.
  • Participate in external audits and customer assessments as required.
  • Maintain EH&S management systems, policies, procedures, and training records.
  • Deliver and coordinate EH&S training for employees, supervisors, and contractors.
  • Lead a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and leadership collaboration.
  • Advise management on EH&S risks, regulatory changes, and best practices.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Minimum 5 years of EH&S experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in electroplating, metal finishing, or chemical processing.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with OSHA, EPA, and RCRA regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Hands‑on experience with hazardous waste management and industrial wastewater treatment systems.
  • Proven track record of leading incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Experience conducting EH&S audits and supporting regulatory inspections.
Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of environmental permitting, compliance reporting, and regulatory interpretation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with regulatory agencies, management, and shop‑floor employees.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with 5S, continuous improvement, and safety culture initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and record‑keeping skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and EH&S data tracking systems.
  • Willingness to travel 5-10% to support operations at our El Paso, TX Facility as needed.
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferred in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CHMM, CSP, CIH, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of electroplating chemicals, processes, and associated environmental risks.
