Specification Technician

Engineering Tech

Responsible for succession planning and design engineering support in Marshall. Supports SAP, TOI, EOG, BOMs, Routers, Construction Changes, Reel Calculations, Cable Builder, and ensures no process redundancy or backup is needed.

• Create a safe workplace.
• Keep work area clean and orderly and free of hazards.
• Assist with solving production problems.
• Support engineering trials by coordinating actions, collecting information, following direction from Process Engineers.
• Implement continuous improvement actions.
• Observe functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards, problems, and the need for service, repair and/or replacement of electrical, electronic, and mechanical components.
• Discuss performance issues and suggest improvement ideas with pertinent technical staff.
• Assemble experimental processes according to engineering instruction, technical manuals, and knowledge of mechanical and electrical components/systems and their functions.
• Recommend process changes based on data and experience.
• Conform to change management processes.
• Utilize all process-related documentation appropriately.
• Troubleshoot and assist in repair of the processes in the respective area of responsibility.
• Analyze and interpret data to identify process-related issues, support daily production, perform root cause analysis and help implement corrective actions.
• Adjust, calibrate, and align processes according to manufacturer specifications, internally generated requirements, or industry best practice.
• Support newly installed equipment and ensure system performance meets the target under actual operating conditions.

• Knowledge of application of standards.
• Knowledge of mechanical / process / industrial engineering principles.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement.
• Understanding of the manufacturing process.
• Engage in teamwork and work well across departments.
• Identification, deployment, and monitoring of key performance indicators.

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend English for required document control, equipment operation, and supervisor/peer instructions.
• Minimum 3 years of experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Willingness and ability to work off shift operations as business conditions require, and overtime to complete work as needed.
• Willingness to be on call and/or offer remote support to production as needs arise.
• Computer skills, including proficiency with email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to prepare technical reports for documenting issues/changes to equipment.
• Responsibility for one's own work and adherence to safety procedures.
• Initiative and proactivity.
• Adherence to company safety policies (e.g., safety shoes, glasses).
• Proven ability to work in teams.

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a technical field (electrical, mechanical, industrial) or equivalent certification preferred.
• Alternative:
  Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technical support role in a manufacturing environment.
