This role oversees, executes, and manages Energy and Sustainability Programs at Bowling Green Metal forming, focusing on continuous improvement and capital endeavors while tracking and communicating savings.
Job Responsibilities- Supervise project expenses and ensure timely delivery of objectives.
- Identify and pursue savings opportunities, including profitability calculations for energy‑saving projects.
- Continuously improve energy efficiency and reduce demand through technical or organizational measures.
- Implement use of renewable energy sources where possible.
- Identify and utilize funding sources and reduction potentials.
- Initiate awareness‑raising activities (training, demonstrations) for staff.
- Manage Energy Compliance, staying current with legislation.
- Lead education regarding energy management.
- Develop and oversee short‑ and long‑term projects and strategies to increase efficiency, reduce greenhouse gases, and minimize consumption.
- Manage energy‑related continuous improvement and capital projects.
- Submit documentation and updates for projects, utility consumption reports, and results.
- Present recommendations to management teams.
- Maintain required documentation.
- Conduct monthly Energy Team Meetings.
- Maintain energy monitoring and cost planning (recording consumption, preparing data for budget, checking plausibility via monitoring system).
- Detect optimization potentials via the energy monitoring system.
- Plan and implement energy and media cost savings with support of developers.
- Work with maintenance, facility, and environmental teams to develop and implement measures.
- Prepare RFQ for new projects.
- Support budget creation, manage energy budget spending, and identify goals for each project.
- Prepare analytical reports and readouts summarizing usage and savings via Energy Portals.
- Support Lean Manufacturing requirements and audits.
- Benchmark energy efficiency measures against other plants or suppliers.
- Investigate innovative technologies and processes.
- Stay in contact with other Energy Champions and the Regional Global Energy Lead.
- Lead Energy Walks/Treasure Hunts.
- Maintain and update the Energy Board and trackers.
- Achieve Mafact 6.10 target score.
- Provide educational leadership and ensure visibility of energy and sustainability topics on floor and in common areas.
- Report in plantwide meetings on energy and sustainability topics.
- Maintain reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Degree in Energy/Sustainability Management or minimum three years of related experience in energy project management or industrial facilities management.
- Experience analyzing energy operational data (electricity, gas, water) and drawing improvement insights.
- Proven track record of completing a wide array of energy projects.
- Previous experience in manufacturing and plant automation (automotive manufacturing preferred).
- Experience with process equipment such as compressors, chillers, MUAs, flow meters and HVAC systems (commercial & industrial building).
- Knowledge of electrical systems and interpretation of schematics/drawings.
- Effective leadership and team motivation skills.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, including presentation abilities for customer interface.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and maintain confidentiality.
- Education of team on energy reduction and sustainability; ensuring topics are visible and reported.
