At First Financial Bank, our Commercial Lending team helps businesses grow, invest, and strengthen the communities we serve. As a Commercial Loan Assistant II, you'll play an essential role in supporting complex commercial lending relationships by ensuring loans are documented accurately, portfolios are well-managed, and transactions move efficiently from approval through servicing.
This role is ideal for an experienced commercial lending professional who enjoys working behind the scenes to solve problems, manage complex documentation, and partner with lenders to deliver an exceptional client experience.
What You’ll Do- Partner with Commercial Lenders:
Support relationship management activities by preparing commitment letters, term sheets, and documentation that helps move commercial transactions forward. - Coordinate commercial loan documentation:
Prepare and review commercial loan documents while ensuring compliance with approved terms, Bank policies, and regulatory requirements. - Manage commercial credit files:
Maintain accurate loan files, monitor financial statement requirements, covenant compliance, loan exceptions, and annual review schedules. - Monitor commercial portfolios:
Generate reports that help lenders manage maturing loans, payment activity, financial reporting, and other portfolio risk indicators. - Process commercial loan transactions:
Complete loan payments, line advances, payoff requests, construction disbursements, and other servicing activities accurately and efficiently. - Resolve documentation issues:
Research and address documentation exceptions, post-closing items, and operational issues identified through internal reviews or audits. - Coordinate loan closings:
Work with attorneys, title companies, vendors, and internal departments to facilitate timely and accurate commercial loan closings. - Deliver exceptional service:
Build strong working relationships with clients, lenders, and internal business partners through responsive, professional communication. - Maintain compliance:
Ensure all commercial lending activities adhere to Bank policies, regulatory requirements, and documentation standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
- Five or more years of experience in commercial loan processing, documentation, servicing, or commercial lending operations
- Strong understanding of commercial lending practices, loan documentation, and regulatory requirements
- Experience with Laser Pro documentation software and Fiserv systems preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with lenders and cross-functional teams
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive customer and financial information
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 75% of the workday
- Ability to review detailed financial and legal documentation requiring close visual attention
- Ability to operate a computer and other standard office equipment throughout the workday
