Key Responsibilities Performance Management- Set goals and monitor KPIs for carrier network growth, lane coverage, margin, and on-time performance
- Conduct quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with each carrier to evaluate performance and service trends
- Resolve escalated carrier or service issues
- Source, qualify, and onboard new asset-based carriers to reduce reliance on the brokered network
- Execute broker/carrier agreements and manage onboarding documentation (insurance, authority, W-9, safety packet)
- Negotiate and establish base rates, fuel surcharges, and accessorial schedules by lane
- Build long-term, direct carrier partnerships to improve service and cost control
- Ensure onboarded carriers are load-ready across required systems (TMS, rate tables, compliance tracking)
- Monitor ongoing carrier compliance (insurance, safety ratings, authority, CSA scores)
- Collaborate with sales and operations to align lane rates with customer commitments
- Track freight market trends and adjust rate strategy to protect margin
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred)
- 3–6+ years of experience in carrier sales, carrier management, or freight brokerage
- Experience in managed transportation, overseeing contracted carrier relationships governed by set rate schedules (base, fuel surcharge, accessorials)
- Demonstrated ability to build processes from the ground up in a leaner, less tech supported environment
- Experience negotiating and onboarding asset-based carriers (preferred)
- Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills
- Working knowledge of TMS platforms and freight market/rate dynamics
