Assistant Manager, Culinary Services
Ohio University is seeking an Assistant Manager to support daily operations of campus dining venues. The role assists the General Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations, managing shift assignments, ensuring quality standards, supervising staff, and maintaining safety and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities- Manage shift assignments for assigned venues and assist the General Manager in day-to-day operations.
- Supervise work of others, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff, and overseeing productivity.
- Provide recommendations for hiring, termination, and pay adjustments, while not having final decision authority.
- Serve as manager on duty in the absence of the General Manager.
- Direct operations, workforce, and service levels of campus venues, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
- Manage processes, systems, and inventory for campus venues.
- Manage a small team of at least 2.0 FTE employees and have authority to manage performance, assign duties, and take disciplinary actions.
- Responsible for managing a small budget or part of a larger budget.
- Solve interpersonal team issues and develop solutions for team-related problems, seeking guidance from higher-level management on complex problems.
- Collaborate with higher-level managers and other teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Maintain a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Three or more years of related professional experience.
- One or more years of supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience in food service.
- Experience in catering.
- Valid driver’s license (will be required to drive a state vehicle for catering).
