As part of that commitment, the Process Technician Apprentice will train alongside experienced technicians to gain hands‑on experience with injection molding processes, equipment, and quality standards — developing the skills needed for a successful long‑term career in manufacturing.

The Process Technician Apprentice will work under the guidance of experienced Process Technicians to learn the skills and knowledge necessary to operate, troubleshoot, and optimize the injection molding machines and processes. The Process Technician Apprentice is responsible for the startup and maintenance of injection molding machines as well as adjusting cycle times to meet production standards. They will assist with die changes, color changeovers, and material changeovers.

They are additionally responsible for making appropriate adjustments to the injection molding process to meet quality standards. Over time, the apprentice will develop the expertise required to become a fully qualified Process Technician, capable of independently managing molding operations to meet production goals and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follows safety policies and LOTO procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Records data, create setup sheets, and maintain change logs.
  • Keeps work areas clean and organized according to the 5S principles.
  • Understands processing of different grades of plastics to make quality parts.
  • Assists other Processors in performing mold changes.
  • Assists with crafting samples of new molds and materials.
  • Assists in performing color changes and material changes.
  • Performs first piece inspections of finished parts after a changeover.
  • Operates forklift and/or overhead crane.
Competencies (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities)
  • Knowledge of Injection molding process.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills.
Education
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. (required)
Experience
  • Experience with injection molding process preferred.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing environment required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Forklift Certification
Physical

Job Requirements
  • Able to lift and handle a minimum of 45-55 pounds.
  • Exceptional hand‑eye coordination.
  • Able to perform work in a standing or sitting position as required.
  • All work is performed in a manufacturing environment which may be hot/cold and requires the use of PPE at all times (eyeglasses, ear plugs where required, etc.)
