Position Summary: This person is responsible for managing and optimizing material flow throughout the Bowling Green operations. Must be capable of collaborating with cross‑functional teams and department leaders to address concerns and issues that affect material flow, production efficiency, continuous improvement, etc. The Logistics Engineer will also have exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and management skills, demonstrating the ability to be an innovator and change agent.
EssentialDuties
- Manage the flow of material from suppliers to production for all operations of the Bowling Green site.
- Partner with Materials and Operations to develop and implement solutions for optimizing material presentation to maximize flow through the plant and line productivity.
- Drive implementation of standard containerization throughout all operations.
- Research and benchmark best practices in industry related to logistics and material flow.
- Ensure Bowling Green site inventory accuracy and cycle count program complies with corporate policies including tracking and reporting duties.
- Oversee onsite third‑party logistics personnel and facilitate transportation projects and changes implemented via third‑party logistics provider for the Bowling Green site.
- Drive operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and budget goals are achieved.
- Evaluate logistics constraints and implement Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve capacities.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to define and implement cost‑effective continuous improvement projects.
- Promote and drive the organization’s vision and utilization of Knorr Production System (Lean Manufacturing) methodologies.
- Champion change and facilitate team‑related functions to improve the business performance.
- Use problem‑solving methods and innovation to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance TS16949 standards.
- Ensure compliance with all Product Safety Procedure requirements; fully understand and ensure compliance with Product Safety Escalation Process.
- Support and adhere to the company environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a similar field.
- Requires at least three years of experience working in Logistics in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles is required.
- Green or Black Belt Certification preferred.
- Must have the ability to multitask.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain courteous, cooperative relations when interacting with other personnel and the public.
- Demonstrated analytical ability necessary to perform calculations, interpret data, diagnose problems with equipment, and solve problems is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Prior experience using SAP is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in motivating and leading people, driving a positive work environment.
- Must be able to follow instructions, safety rules, and regulations.
- Possible weekend work and overtime required.
