Overview

The QC Technician II performs analytical testing of materials to determine quality acceptance as per the QC manual and the direction of management. The position also manages the maintenance of equipment and records as per the QC manual and the direction of management.

Responsibilities
  • Manages the maintenance, calibration, standardization, and inventory of chemicals and analytical laboratory equipment as directed by the QC manual.
  • Performs bulk raw material, packaged raw material, and finished product testing, inspection, disposition, and documentation as directed by the QC manual.
  • Ensures proper handling, notification, evaluation, and documentation of non‑conforming material.
  • Generates Certificates of Analysis for all three plants and drop‑ship material.
  • Tests and adjusts waste tank material and sample log distribution.
  • Filing and resolving vendor discrepancies and documenting all activity.
  • Tests, records, and notifies return material.
  • Maintains QC adjustment, NCM, and sample count monthly sheets.
  • Reviews and writes up truck paperwork.
  • Tests and disposes of rinse and storm water.
  • Remains responsible for sample retain and disposal.
  • Complies with chemical hygiene and plant safety plans.
  • Serves as secondary back‑up for other technicians and performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in chemistry or physical science discipline preferred.
  • 2‑4 years of experience with laboratory techniques and equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of computers.
Physical Demands

Constantly required to sit and occasionally required to walk, stand, climb (includes stairs), balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk, hear, and smell. Constantly using hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, and computer keyboards. Routinely required to reach with hands and arms, squat, turn or twist, or reach, lift, carry, push or pull up to 20 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Working Conditions

Indoor work office environment with good ventilation, adequate lighting, and low noise levels. Specialty chemical blending and packaging facility where hazardous materials are present. Workers are subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures and workspace restrictions. Personnel must wear the proper personal protective equipment, which may include eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective apron, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats or face shields.

The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Contact lenses may not be allowed in some areas.

Compensation

$25.00 - $25.00 USD per hour. This range reflects the possible compensation for this role. The range may be modified in the future. The compensation may be altered by factors, including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business needs.
