Job Description
Our client is seeking a Production Supervisor (2nd Shift) to lead daily manufacturing operations within an assigned value stream. This role is responsible for driving safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement while developing a high-performing team in a fast-paced production environment.
This position is permanently scheduled for 2nd shift and requires flexibility to support Saturday production approximately 20 times per year (paid overtime).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily production activities during the 2nd shift, ensuring safety, quality, and delivery objectives are achieved
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement through adherence to standardized work practices, 5S, and regulatory requirements
- Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives utilizing tools such as PDCA, pull systems, workload leveling, and waste reduction methodologies
- Coach, mentor, and develop production employees and team leads to build a strong, high-performing workforce
- Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and production control teams to ensure smooth production flow and shift-to-shift communication
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate priorities, address challenges, and recognize achievements
- Utilize visual management tools and performance dashboards to monitor key performance indicators and drive operational improvements
- Support budgeting, labor planning, cost control, and performance management initiatives
- Promote employee cross-training to improve workforce flexibility and operational continuity
- Champion a "right-first-time" quality mindset while identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field, along with manufacturing experience
- Ability and willingness to work a 2nd shift schedule
- Ability to work scheduled Saturdays as business needs require (approximately 20 Saturdays annually, paid at overtime rates)
- Prior experience leading or supervising employees in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills
- Ability to influence performance and drive results within a production setting
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-5 years of manufacturing leadership or supervisory experience
- Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, or Operational Excellence initiatives
- Knowledge of inventory management, production planning, and basic operational financial concepts
- Experience developing employees through coaching, mentoring, and performance management
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, product quality, and operational excellence
