Supports coordination and direction of daily production activities to achieve safety, quality, and production objectives
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned) This position requires skill progression and testing.
- Maintain a safe and clean workplace by supporting safety initiatives and promoting safe behaviors of others
- Support Production Supervisor in planning and execution of production activities, including break relief for staff, facilitation of pre-shift meetings, work assignments, and scheduling priorities; supervises and directs production activities in the absence of Production Supervisor
- Set up and operation of all printing presses in accordance with established guidelines (i.e., correct ink, set up, plate mounting); performs proper adjustments to maintain safety, quality, and production standards
- Understand the components and functions of the basic flexographic printing press, including but not limited to the unwind, infeed, drying, outfeed, rewind, register, impression setting, port-a-lift and inking systems.
- Apply general makeready procedures for flexographic printing.
- Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret Travelers and how to identify raw materials by part numbers.
- Recognize, identify, and communicate problems in specific terms (troubleshooting). Effectively transfer information between shifts. Know location of all SDS sheets and how to interpret. Understand SOC sheets and how to properly fill out.
- Demonstrate good housekeeping and organizational skills. Ensure proper solvent and ink handling procedures are implemented and followed. Ensure proper hazardous waste handling procedures are implemented and followed.
- Assists with review of quality throughout shift to ensure conformance to standards; partners with Quality and Production management to address concerns as needed
- Assists with preliminary troubleshooting of equipment and processes malfunctions as needed; escalates concerns to Production Supervisor and/or Maintenance for resolution as needed
- Conduct and facilitate training of new employees in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Assist with preparation of production reporting and documentation including daily production labels, data entry, and production records; reviews reports for accuracy; updates tier 2 meetings, along with leading tier 2 meetings in absence of Supervisor
- Observe all Plant safety, quality and production policies
- Perform related duties as assigned
Must have good speaking skills. Must be able to read, write and understand English. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and employees both in person and through written and verbal correspondence. Ability to perform duties with minimal direction and be self motivated. Ability to read and understand a measuring tape.
Adhere to safety policies and procedures in compliance with Amcor's guidelines. Visually inspects the facility for tripping hazards, equipment safeguards and helps to maintain a clean work environment.

High school graduation or its equivalent preferred. Prior Central Impression Press operation preferred. Knowledge of late model, automatic presses is also preferred. Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills and abilities.
Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to request clarification when needed. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
