Production Supervisor
Location: Bowling Green, KY
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Overtime: Approximately 5 hours per week
Shift: Rotating 1st and 2nd shift
Position SummaryThe Production Supervisor will lead a team of represented hourly employees supporting day-to-day vehicle manufacturing operations within General Assembly. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for approximately 40-60 employees across two production departments
.
The supervisor will be responsible for driving performance across safety, people, quality, responsiveness, cost, and environmental objectives while maintaining an efficient, high-quality manufacturing operation. This role requires someone who can operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, make decisions quickly, resolve employee issues, and work successfully within a unionized manufacturing environment.
This opportunity may be a strong fit for an early-career manufacturing professional or recent associate degree graduate who has the leadership potential, mechanical aptitude, and energy to develop into a manufacturing leadership role.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and provide day-to-day leadership to represented hourly employees within General Assembly.
- Ensure production requirements are met while maintaining established safety, quality, cost, and environmental standards.
- Monitor vehicle quality and ensure non-conformance issues are identified, investigated, and appropriately addressed.
- Track daily production throughput and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Support cost-control initiatives, including scrap reduction and continuous improvement activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production and departmental issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Manage employee timekeeping and ensure daily payroll information is accurate and complete.
- Address employee concerns and support timely resolution of workplace issues and grievances.
- Work within applicable collective bargaining agreements and established labor practices.
- Partner with union representatives and other stakeholders to resolve workplace and production concerns.
- Communicate production priorities, expectations, and performance information to employees and leadership.
- Work collaboratively with other supervisors, group leaders, and departments to resolve production issues.
- Apply lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles to improve departmental performance.
- Maintain a strong floor presence and develop productive working relationships with hourly employees.
- Support additional manufacturing and leadership activities as assigned.
- Associate degree required.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Docs, and Google Forms
. - Strong mechanical aptitude and general understanding of vehicle components, fasteners, threaded holes, studs, body components, and how basic mechanical parts fit together.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-energy, fast-paced manufacturing environment
. - Ability to think quickly, make sound decisions, and manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to effectively supervise and build relationships with hourly production employees.
- Ability and willingness to work onsite in Bowling Green, KY and reliably report for scheduled shift start times.
- Ability to rotate between 1st and 2nd shifts approximately every six months.
- 2 years of manufacturing experience.
- Previous automotive manufacturing experience.
- Experience supervising or working with represented/union employees.
- Familiarity with UAW-represented manufacturing environments
. - Lean manufacturing or Lean Six Sigma knowledge or experience.
- Previous experience in production leadership, team leadership, or manufacturing supervision.
Recent associate degree graduates interested in beginning a career in manufacturing leadership may also be considered.
Shift ScheduleCandidates must be willing to rotate shifts approximately every six months with their assigned team.
1st Shift- Pre-shift touchpoint: approximately 5:35 AM
- Production shift: 6:00 AM-2:30 PM
- Expected arrival: approximately 5:30 AM
- Pre-shift touchpoint: approximately 2:35 PM
- Production shift: 3:00 PM-11:30 PM
- Expected arrival: approximately 2:30 PM
The position is expected to begin on 2nd shift before rotating to 1st shift. Reliable and punctual attendance is essential.
