Job Description Responsibilities
- Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
- Support and investigate situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
- Complete responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
- Actively lead risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate or reduce environmental, health, or safety risks.
- Lead all required safety meetings (e.g., pre-shift, department, change management, general communication, town hall).
- Complete incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions in a timely and thorough manner.
- Ensure proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
- Set goals for their organizational unit, achieve goals, and ensure that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
- Motivate and coach employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback; identify and coordinate additional training as needed.
- Respond to any emergency or potential emergency.
- Maintain security diligence, including controlling personal key cards, preventing unauthorized entry, and securing Amcor information and equipment within their direct responsibility.
- Maintain constant vigilance and participation in safety, food safety, and quality practices and procedures.
- Identify and record problems relating to products, processes, and quality system.
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity of product or quality systems and recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
- Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes, or systems and verify the implementation of solutions.
- Observe all safety precautions, food safety requirements, and plant rules to prevent injury to self or others and to prevent loss of material or damage to equipment.
- Follow and wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain good housekeeping and 5S.
- Help implement and manage safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee the maintenance of OSHA record-keeping reports.
- Oversee safety/first aid teams.
- Conduct quarterly management safety reviews.
- Conduct, manage, and report weekly safety audits including all findings and corrective actions.
- Identify at-risk behaviors or conditions within the plant and implement corrective measures.
- Investigate all incidents and property losses.
- Assist in the review and sustainability of health, safety, and environmental management systems, including annual review of all written regulatory policies.
- Build an understanding of EHS initiatives, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements through regular check-ins/meetings with multi-site EHS manager.
- Implement and promote environmental and safety projects.
- Maintain production floor presence daily and liaise for EHS with employees, frontline leaders, and management.
- Conduct regulatory compliance and housekeeping audits weekly and monthly. Maintain the compliance calendar to ensure all tasks are met on time and staff held accountable.
- Conduct EHS new hire orientation and ensure all technical personnel are trained and authorized based on the site’s training matrix.
- Facilitate authorized/technical safety training including documented skill demonstration; include authorized lock-out tag-out, crane use, forklift, fall protection, confined space, hot work, and site-specific training and schedule with departments.
- Develop and implement compliance training for health and safety programs including hazard communications, safe working practices, and PPE.
- Ensure proper inventory and selection of PPE; approve all PPE and new chemical purchases.
- Assist in first responder duties including treatment, injury, illness, incident record keeping through internal reporting processes and lead onsite investigation team through RCAs and CAPAs.
