• Cashier/Checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging and assisting customers.
• Cashiers process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Checkers understand the Point of Sale (POS) system, and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy.
• Adhere to the company’s cash handling, loss prevention, and guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator and follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads; follow all food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by answering product questions throughout the store.
• Operate with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; follow directions and seek assistance as needed to resolve issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
