Qualifications: High School Diploma, GED, or willing to pursue a high school equivalency diploma. Three years of experience in building/facilities maintenance; trade or vocational school graduate; OR equivalent experience encouraged
Reports To: Facilities/Food Service Director
SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrates working knowledge of HVAC and Refrigeration systems, tools and materials. Able to understand and carry out instructions. Dependable and motivated to complete duties without constant supervision. Applicants with completed apprenticeships or apprentice-level experience will be prioritized.
TECHNICAL TRAINING Working knowledge of applicable EPA regulations;
Local City and County codes and regulations.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Ability to read blueprints or technical diagrams. Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair HVAC, control, and refrigeration systems. Inspect HVAC components, such as belts, motors, cooling towers, etc.
- Follow all safety rules and policies.
- Follow and comply with all operational procedures/policies.
- Install HVAC components and systems as directed.
- Build/install/modify components for the energy management system.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair heating systems which include but not limited to water source heat pumps; gas-fired boilers; variable refrigerant systems.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair cooling systems which include but not limited to water source heat pumps; chillers; cooling towers; variable refrigerant systems.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair make-up air systems which include but not limited to traditional roof-top units; air acuity systems.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair refrigeration systems which include but not limited to reach-in coolers; walk-in coolers and freezers; ice machines.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair commercial kitchen equipment (encouraged, not required).
- Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
- Operate various aerial lifts, fork trucks, and other equipment.
- Promotes good housekeeping.
- Maintain assigned district vehicle which includes interior and exterior cleanliness and preventive maintenance.
- Be responsible for the use, maintenance, and proper storage of all assigned tools and equipment.
- Perform assigned preventive maintenance work orders and all other assigned work orders in a timely manner.
- Perform field work orders on any needed repairs that are found.
- Stand ready to be called-in for after hour emergencies.
- Take initiative in seeking and completing tasks without supervision and in a timely manner.
- Follow prescribed safety methods which may include the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Frequently lift and push/pull 20-40 pounds; occasionally lift and push/pull over 40 pounds. Regularly climb, crawl, stoop, and/or bend to perform various jobs.
- Occasionally work in inclement weather conditions.
- Understand, follow, and interpret oral and written instructions including work orders, directions for assembly, and manuals.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including maintaining routine records.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations by interacting effectively with and demonstrating respect for the views, rights and contributions of parents, teachers and other school personnel.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff.
- Maintain appropriate professional appearance.
- Act as a consistent positive public relations agent for school and district programs and activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of information regarding individual students and their families.
- Implement and adhere to all rules and regulations, policies, administrative guidelines, and directives as adopted by the Board of Education, Principal, Administrative Staff, and Superintendent.
- Maintain acceptable personal attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardiness, absences without notification, or abuse of sick leave.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Facilities and Food Service Directors, or Superintendent of Schools.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $31.55 to $33.98 Per Hour
