Newcomerstown Exempted Village School District is seeking Two-Route Bus Drivers for the school year. Details regarding the position and application process are available on the district website.
Reports To: Superintendent
DefinitionBus Driver, as applied in the job description refers to any individual employed by the Newcomerstown Exempted Village School District with the primary responsibility of transporting students to and from their homes to their designated school of attendance.
A. It is agreed there are two (2) possible route shifts for bus drivers. They are Morning and Evening.
B. A bus driver employed by the district must drive two (2) or three (3) route shifts to be eligible for benefits outlined in the negotiated agreement.
Duties- Be courteous, polite, yet stern when needed to all students.
- Be fully aware of all traffic rules and regulations.
- Prepare reports as directed.
- Be responsible for keeping bus clean and mechanically safe at all times. Any improper function in the bus should be reported to the mechanic immediately.
- Be in full charge of the bus at all times and is responsible for maintaining discipline on all occasions.
- Shall follow the established routes and make stops thereon as designated by the Newcomerstown Board of Education.
- Shall have a published time schedule and seating chart and abide by the same.
- Shall be fully aware and abide by the "Ohio Pupil Transportation Rules and Regulations" as published by the Ohio Department of Education.
- Shall see that the bus always has sufficient fuel.
- Shall refer all major discipline problems to the building Principal.
- All drivers must make a daily check of oil, water, and tires.
- Exterior of bus must be washed so marking and lights are visible to meet Highway Patrol requirements.
- In case of an emergency, drivers can put tire chains on only before leaving for a trip.
- Drivers must check all seats for students or damage before and after each run or trip.
- And any similar duties assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent.
