CDL A Delivery Driver Extraboard

Position Purpose

Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Drivers ensure that customers’ products arrive on time and in good condition, while serving as the face of the company and building lasting relationships with customers.

• Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.
• Act as a team member within the department and organization, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
• Perform all required safety checks (pre‑ and post‑trip) and inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Report all safety issues, required repairs, and hazards promptly.
• Follow all DOT regulations, company safe driving guidelines and policies.
• Inspect trailers for proper loading and secured freight.
• Perform a count check of items and verify customer invoices of loaded products.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
• Move tractor to the loading dock and attach pre‑loaded trailer as needed.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to a predetermined route schedule.
• Unload products from the trailer and transport items to designated customer storage areas.
• Conduct damage control checks, scan items, and contact supervisor about removal orders according to company policy.
• Verify delivery of items with the customer and obtain proper signatures.
• Collect payments (cash or checks) where required, load customer returns onto the trailer, and secure trailer doors.
• Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured.
• Unload damaged goods, customer returns, and dispose of trash from trailers as required.
• Complete a daily record of hours of service and enter it in the log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
• Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
• At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED
• 12+ months of commercial driving experience
• Valid CDL‑A
• Age 21 or older
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years
• Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check
• Pass road test
• Attain or hold a valid current DOT Health Card, or be able to secure a new one
• Able to hand‑lift and utilize a two‑wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment to move or stack product cases/freight ranging from approximately 10–90 pounds

• 12+ months of food service or beverage delivery experience
• Experience with onboard computer and electronic log systems (e.g., People Net)
• Experience with hand‑held point‑of‑delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD)
• Customer service related work experience
