UTILITY WORKER II
Position Summary:
This is manual work utilizing equipment used to carry heavy items such as pallet jacks, dollies, etc.; operates a truck hauling laborers, furniture, freight, material, and equipment; participates in loading and unloading trucks; checks condition of truck and reports needed adjustments and repairs; and services equipment. Performs manual and semi-skilled tasks and job duties such as loading and unloading freight.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
- Follow written and oral instructions.
- Work-related knowledge moving furniture.
- Operate equipment such as a pick-up truck, state van, and all types of hand trucks and related moving equipment.
- Flexibility to stay after 5:30 p.m. and/or work on weekends due to set-up of special events and/or emergencies that arise.
- Stoop, bend, squat, climb stairs, and work with hands above head, work from a standard/extended ladder.
- Lift up to 75 lbs. throughout work shift.
- Perform duties under adverse climatic conditions such as heat, cold, rain, etc.
- Operate equipment such as pick-up truck, dump truck and all types of hand trucks.
- Driving as needed to perform job duties.
• Operates a truck hauling furniture, freight, other material and equipment; participates in loading and unloading trucks; checks condition of truck and reports needed adjustments and repairs; services equipment. (60%)
• Performs manual and semi-skilled tasks. Drives box trucks and participates in loading and unloading freight. Occasionally will operate a forklift and use other equipment such as electric lifts and pallet jacks. (10%)
• Supports special events on campus by delivering equipment, setting up stages, tables, chairs, and other items needed to assure that all events are successful. Breakdown at completion of events. (10%)
• Moves furniture and lab equipment on campus. In some cases this will be entire departments or buildings being relocated. Pick up surplus items on campus and deliver to Property Surplus. (10%)
• Miscellaneous duties:
Picking up and delivering items from the warehouse or other locations and delivering them to various buildings on campus. Minor assembly of small equipment or fixtures as needed to support Building Services and other FMD shops. (10%)
Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM-5:30 PM. No on call. Not an essential worker. Some night and/or weekend work may be required to meet the needs of the organization.
CompensationPosting Salary: $37,500
