Responsible for driving a truck on a road or bridge crew under the supervision of a Foreman. Responsibilities may include: driving truck for transporting materials to and from job site; operating truck for pulling equipment (such as trailers, hot box, air compressors etc.); spreading materials such as asphalt, gravel, and dirt; and performing semi-skilled manual labor to maintain and repair County roads and bridges by filling potholes, sealing cracks, shoveling and raking materials, cutting brush and trees, picking up trash, wedging, deep patching, etc.
Operates snowplow during snow and ice events.
Operates a variety of vehicles and equipment to load, and transport equipment and materials.
Serves as a flagger directing traffic through an established work zone.
Performs maintenance and repair to County roads, highways and bridges by filling potholes, sealing cracks, shoveling and raking materials, cutting brush and trees, picking up trash, wedging, deep patching. Performs such drainage work as cleaning out pipes and catch basins, replacing cross-over pipes, assembling pipes in ditches and driveways, etc. Performs such bridge repair activities as cleaning debris from under bridges, installing drip edge on bridges, repairing potholes on bridge decks, guardrails, etc.
Participates in such construction activities as building catch basins and head walls, building forms for concrete, and preparing cement and other building materials for use in these construction activities.
Participates in snow and ice control on County roads and bridges. At the direction of the Road and/or Bridge Superintendent, snow and ice control takes priority over all other activities during snow and ice events.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
Secondary education or equivalent. Must possess a valid State of Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with Tanker endorsement.
