Job Title: 1st shift CDL Driver (Class
A) | Rittman, OH (Local and home daily) | $22-$25/hr
This role involves operating Class A CDL flatbed trucks to deliver structural steel products to local destinations while supporting shop operations when deliveries are not required. You will safely transport materials to regional locations, oversee loading processes, and assist with rigging, loading, and unloading steel products, contributing to both driving and shop activities as needed.
Responsibilities- Drive Class A CDL flatbed trucks, pickup trucks, and trailers to make daily deliveries to local areas, including Cleveland, Canton, and Columbus.
- Transport structural steel products safely and efficiently while complying with all Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and participate in the loading of structural steel shipments within the home facility to ensure secure and proper load configuration.
- Coordinate with personnel at job sites who assist with off-loading structural steel shipments, ensuring safe and accurate unloading.
- Perform rigging activities for steel products, including securing loads and using appropriate rigging techniques and equipment.
- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to load and unload steel products onto and from trucks and trailers.
- Work in the shop performing general duties when there are no delivery jobs, which may include assisting with material handling, organizing inventory, or other shop support tasks.
- Inspect trucks, trailers, and equipment before and after trips to ensure they are in safe working condition, reporting any issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organized truck and help keep the shop environment orderly and safe.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies while driving, loading, unloading, and working in the shop.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, shop staff, and job site personnel to coordinate deliveries and shop assignments.
- Valid Class A CDL license.
- Minimum of 3 years of commercial driving experience.
- Proven experience operating flatbed trucks.
- Experience with rigging, loading, and unloading steel products.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely.
- DOT medical card (DOT card) and a good driving record.
- Strong understanding of load securement and safety practices for structural steel.
- Ability to work both on the road and in a shop environment as needed.
- Capability to perform basic vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience delivering to commercial or construction job sites.
- Familiarity with regional routes in and around Cleveland, Canton, and Columbus.
- Comfort working with structural steel and heavy materials.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with shop personnel and site contacts.

WorkEnvironment
This position is primarily based at a shop facility with regular regional driving to areas such as Cleveland, Canton, and Columbus. The shop is organized, fairly clean, and has a light haze typical of a steel-related environment. Approximately 15-20 people work in the shop, creating a team-oriented atmosphere. Working conditions vary with the weather, as temperatures can be cooler in the winter and hotter in the summer, especially when loading and unloading steel products.
You will operate flatbed trucks, trailers, and forklifts and spend time both on the road and in the shop, where safety and organization are emphasized.
