FDRsafety is seeking a Safety Manager for an industrial construction project based in Bowling Green, OH. This role is responsible for executing and overseeing site-level safety programs, ensuring compliance with federal and local regulations, driving a strong safety culture, and serving as a key liaison between field operations, project management, and senior leadership.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring a safe work environment through hazard analysis, compliance enforcement, employee training, and proactive engagement across project teams. The Safety Manager will also support corporate initiatives, training programs, and long-term safety planning.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and supervise site‑specific safety, health, and environmental protection programs.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Conduct regular jobsite audits, hazard assessments, and inspections.
- Investigate incidents and near‑misses using root cause methodology; recommend and track corrective actions.
- Provide new‑hire safety orientation and ongoing safety training for field employees.
- Serve as an on‑site resource for supervisors and employees regarding safe work practices and procedures.
- Lead safety committee meetings and maintain documentation of safety performance metrics.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop and update site‑specific safety plans (SSSPs).
- Ensure proper use and availability of PPE, and approve procurement of safety supplies.
- Coordinate crisis management planning and emergency response procedures.
- Manage return‑to‑work programs and assist with workers’ compensation claims.
- Represent the company in OSHA inspections, insurance walk‑throughs, and regulatory hearings.
- Support the implementation of behavior‑based safety programs and recognition initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Safety, or related field strongly preferred.
- Equivalent field experience or safety‑related certifications (e.g., CHST, STS‑C, OHST) will be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of safety leadership experience in construction or heavy industrial environments.
- Prior experience developing and delivering safety training programs.
- Familiarity with mechanical, industrial, or MEP construction safety requirements is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Ability to identify hazards and implement corrective measures efficiently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence change.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience coordinating drug testing, compliance audits, and incident documentation.
- Strong time management, organization, and leadership skills.
- Ability to travel and perform fieldwork (ladder climbing, walking uneven terrain, lifting, etc.)
