The Summer Instructional Teacher will provide academic instruction and classroom support for the BGSU Upward Bound Summer Residential Learning Community. This federally funded program is designed to prepare first-generation and low-income high school students from Toledo, Ohio, for postsecondary education. Instructors will be responsible for teaching assigned core courses, serving as role models, and ensuring students have a structured and engaging learning experience.

- Teach assigned courses in one of the program's core subjects using a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Facilitate hands‑on, inquiry‑driven lessons that encourage students to collaborate, research, and develop real‑world solutions to academic and practical challenges.
- Provide classroom instruction and assistance, ensuring an engaging and supportive learning environment.
- Serve as a positive role model for high school students, fostering a growth mindset and a love for learning.
- Act as an administrative liaison, facilitating communication between participants and program administrators.
- Ensure adherence to program policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and respectful classroom environment.
- Must possess a bachelor's degree in an academic discipline related to the assigned course.
- Prior teaching or instructional experience is preferred.
- Must possess strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and motivate high school students.

Raspberry Pi, 3D Printing - Foreign
Languages:
Spanish, American Sign Language (ASL), Japanese

Compensation: $1,500 per class taught
