Project Engineer

Mission Critical Construction | Data Centers

We are seeking a Project Engineer on behalf of a client to support large-scale mission-critical construction projects. The role is a vital link between the field and project management, ensuring seamless communication, accurate documentation, and successful project execution from preconstruction through closeout.

Position Details
  • Exempt Salaried Position (Based on experience)
  • Schedule:

    Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
  • Additional evening and weekend work as project demands require
  • Location:

    Onsite daily in Bowling Green, Ohio
  • Travel:
    Up to 15%
Key Responsibilities
  • Promote a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and client site requirements.
  • Support Project Managers and Senior Project Managers in all phases of project execution.
  • Participate in preconstruction planning and project startup activities.
  • Review bid documents, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements during project initiation.
  • Serve as the primary communication bridge between field operations and project management.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication across the entire project team.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly project reporting.
  • Escalate project risks, issues, and schedule impacts as needed.
  • Support subcontractor coordination and project execution activities.
  • Perform field validation of structured cabling and telecommunications designs.
  • Identify constructability issues, design conflicts, and scope gaps.
  • Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Support value engineering efforts and constructability reviews.
  • Verify field conditions against design documents.
  • Assist with manpower planning and labor forecasting alongside field leadership.
  • Develop and maintain pre‑installation and post‑installation submittal packages.
  • Process, validate, and compile cable testing documentation.
  • Review QA/QC documentation to ensure compliance with project standards.
  • Validate OTDR, power meter, and other telecommunications test results.
  • Maintain accurate redline drawings and as‑built documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare organized project closeout documentation for customer acceptance.
  • Identify scope changes and potential impacts early.
  • Coordinate change requests and documentation.
  • Communicate schedule and cost impacts to project stakeholders.
  • Assist Project Managers with contract administration and change order development.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and equipment needs with field operations.
  • Review contracts, purchase orders, and project scope documentation.
  • Support customer walkthroughs, inspections, and project acceptance.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain electronic project tracking systems and custom dashboards.
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend workflow enhancements to improve project efficiency.
  • Assist in implementing construction technology solutions that improve project visibility and productivity.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience supporting commercial construction projects.
  • Experience supporting structured cabling, telecommunications infrastructure, or mission‑critical construction projects strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation, RFIs, submittals, QA/QC processes, and project coordination.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced construction environments supporting multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
