The Data Center Field Engineer is a key member of the project operations team, serving as the primary liaison between field execution and project management. This role ensures accurate documentation, validates field conditions, supports technical workflows, and maintains consistent communication across the extended project team. The Field Engineer plays a critical part in keeping schedules, quality, and project alignment on track throughout the build lifecycle.

Hire Options:
Contract or Contract‑to‑Hire: Exempt salary equivalent, $43.27–$45.67/hr
Direct Hire: Up to $95,000/year
Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7:00am–4:00pm (after‑hours/weekends as needed)
Location: Onsite daily at client site in Bowling Green, OH 43402
Travel: Up to 15%
The Field Engineer supports all phases of data center and structured cabling construction by developing submittal packages, validating field conditions, maintaining redlines and as‑builts, processing RFIs and change requests, compiling test results, and ensuring project documentation remains accurate and up to date. The most essential responsibility is communication—keeping the entire project team aligned, informed, and equipped to execute.

Participate in RFI/RFP and bid processes, reviewing plans, specifications, and full bid packages
Provide direct support to the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager
Recommend improvements to project delivery processes
Mentor and support colleagues as needed
Lead field validation of telecom design, identifying conflicts or gaps and driving resolution through the RFI process
Verify field conditions against design documents
Maintain accurate redlines and as‑built drawings throughout the project lifecycle
Support subcontractor oversight and coordination
Assess installation methods, labor needs, and manpower forecasts with project superintendents
Develop pre‑work and post‑work submittal packages
Process, validate, and compile cable test reports (OTDR, Power Meter, etc.)
Draft and manage RFIs and change order requests
Maintain organized project records and documentation
Prepare daily/weekly reports and escalate issues as needed
Implement and oversee electronic tracking systems and custom dashboards to monitor task progress, productivity, and issue resolution
Support QA/QC efforts by ensuring adherence to quality control plans
Ensure downstream team members meet deadlines and deliverables
Serve as a liaison between field teams, project management, subcontractors, and customers
Communicate expectations, risks, challenges, and successes clearly and proactively
Support customer acceptance and signoff
Build and maintain strong customer relationships
Own the change management process by identifying scope impacts early, communicating with stakeholders, and driving timely resolution
Ensure alignment with schedule, budget, and project objectives
Lead preparation of closeout documentation, ensuring timely, accurate, and customer‑ready submittals
Minimum 5+ years of construction industry experience in a similar role
Experience with
large structured cabling and/or data center construction strongly preferredProficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Bluebeam, Procore, Textura
OSHA‑30 certification (or ability to obtain within first 6 months)
Experience participating in RFI/RFP and bid processes
Ability to lead field validation of telecom design
Experience overseeing electronic tracking systems and dashboards
Strong QA/QC support capabilities
Ability to review contracts, work orders, and purchase orders
Strong ownership of change management processes
Ability to validate test results (OTDR, Power Meter, etc.)
