Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly structured, detail-oriented Field Engineer to serve as the critical technical liaison between office project management and field execution at our hyperscale data center construction site in Bowling Green, OH.
In this role, you will be the absolute information hub for the project ensuring that design documents, material allocations, and construction tracking are seamlessly coordinated. You will lead the validation of complex telecom and structured cabling designs, proactively mitigate scope creeps via tight change management, and manage the technical closeout process. The ideal candidate brings a heavy background in massive low-voltage/fiber infrastructures and thrives in a rigorous safety-first environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Telecom Design Validation: Lead field-level validation of telecom and structured cabling designs. Proactively identify clashes, engineering conflicts, or material gaps, and collaborate with Construction Managers and PMs to drive swift resolution via the RFI process.
- Change Management Ownership: Actively identify scope impacts and deviations from design baselines. Initiate immediate, transparent communication with all project stakeholders and drive resolution to preserve project timelines.
- Tracking & Analytics: Own the implementation, data integrity, and oversight of custom electronic tracking dashboards to maintain real-time visibility into daily task progress and crew productivity.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Support site-wide QA/QC measures. Review, evaluate, and formally validate physical test results (including OTDR and Power Meter data).
- Pre-Construction & Lifecycle Support: Participate in RFP/RFI reviews, comprehensively evaluating structural plans, specifications, and entire bid packages.
- Document Control: Maintain real-time, completely up-to-date redline drawing sets throughout the full build lifecycle. Review associated contracts, work orders, and purchase orders.
- Project Closeout: Lead the generation, organization, and delivery of customer-ready closeout packages to guarantee smooth customer sign-off.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of rigorous experience in the construction industry operating in a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or highly similar technical capacity.
- Domain Expertise: Heavily preferred experience embedded in large structured cabling installations and/or utility-scale data center construction projects.
- Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Certification is required (Candidates not holding an active card must successfully obtain certification within the first 6 months of assignment start).
- Technical Software Stack: High proficiency using construction management and engineering applications including Bluebeam, Procore, Textura, and MS Visio, alongside the core MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Field Competency: Strong working knowledge of testing equipment data (OTDR, Power Meter) and standard telecom installation methodologies.
