Medical Assistants provide clinical and administrative support in clinical setting, under the direction of the physician and office manager/coordinator. The Medical Assistant is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the nursing process within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Assist physician or provider with patient assessment, examinations and treatments.
  • Set up for various procedures and assist the physician or provider in treatments.
  • Documents patient care observations and activities.
  • Correctly collects and accurately labels specimens when doing venipuncture and other specimen collections.
  • Gives routine injections under the direction and supervision of a provider, as appropriate with level of training and/or certification.
  • Triages patient phone calls, in accordance with office policy.
    • Education, Training and Experience
    • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with certification or registry.
    • Current CPR certification.
    Physical Requirements
  • In an 8-hour workday, employee stands/walks (hours at one time): 0-2, 2-4, 4-6, 6-8
  • In an 8-hour workday, employee sits (hours at one time/hours during the day): 0-2, 2-4, 4-6, 6-8
  • Employee lifts: up to 10#, 10-20#, 20-50#, over 50#
  • Lifting as indicated in item 3 above is performed during the workday: occasionally, frequently, continuously
  • Employee uses hands for repetitive movement:
    Simple grasping;
    Pushing/pulling;
    Fine manipulation
  • Employee uses feet for repetitive movement in operating foot controls: yes, no
