Limited Student Permit Respiratory The Respiratory Care – Limited Permit position is responsible for providing safe, effective, and age-appropriate respiratory and cardiopulmonary care to patients across the lifespan while practicing within the scope of a limited permit. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Respiratory Therapist and in accordance with physician orders, hospital policies, and regulatory standards, the incumbent performs approved respiratory therapy procedures, assists with patient assessment, operates and maintains respiratory care equipment, accurately documents care in the electronic medical record, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support quality patient outcomes.

The Respiratory Care – Limited Permit is an onsite position
** Essential Functions
*** Provide age-appropriate basic and intermediate respiratory and cardiopulmonary care to patients of all ages under the supervision of a Registered Respiratory Therapist and in accordance with physician orders, policies, and procedures.
* Perform approved respiratory therapy procedures and assessments, demonstrating verified competency, including patient monitoring, blood gas sampling, noninvasive ventilation, and response to codes and emergencies within scope of practice.
* Assess and review patient medical records, diagnostic data, and current respiratory care orders to plan, deliver, and adjust appropriate respiratory therapy interventions.
* Operate respiratory care equipment by setting up, calibrating, troubleshooting, cleaning, and maintaining devices safely and in compliance with infection prevention protocols.
* Document and communicate patient responses to therapy, complete order entry and billing in the electronic medical record, collaborate with the healthcare team, and participate in ongoing education and departmental activities.
* Prepare, prevent, protect and respond to support our culture of safety.
* Works hours per week in accordance with offer letter or per attributes of position at transfer request. May be expected to work longer hours as necessary.
* Other duties as assigned.
** Requirements

* Education:

* Enrolled and in good standing, or graduate of accredited Respiratory Care Program
* Completion of fall semester of junior year of an AMA and COARC approved program
* Upon graduation from AMA or COARC the candidate has 6 months to obtain the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential and licensure through the Ohio State Medical Board in order to maintain employment.

License:
Current temporary limited permit to practice Respiratory Care (RCLP-L1) in the State of Ohio

Experience:

Verification from the college or university affirming clinical experience.

Certification:
* BLS* ACLS within 90 days of hire
* PALS within 90 days of hire
* NRP within 90 days of hire
