Event Support Staff
The Conference & Event Services' Event Support Staff is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to all Conference & Event Services clients and guests of the University. Day to day activities will be setting, servicing and tearing down setups in all meeting and event spaces managed by the Conference & Event Services office. These spaces include, but are not limited to, the Bowen-Thompson Student Union, Olscamp Hall and select academic buildings on campus.
It is important that members of the Event Support Staff become familiar with campus buildings and the equipment, policies, services and the day-to-day schedule of events for the Conference & Event Services operation.
Career Readiness Competencies
- Provide outstanding customer service to all meeting/event clients and guests.
- Read and interpret room diagrams with respect to event setups.
- Setup/tear down room setups; including tables, chairs, stages and misc. equipment in accordance with the schedule of events for the Conference & Event Services office.
- Set up/ tear down of A/V equipment for meetings and events; including laptops, projectors, microphones, telephones, portable sound system, etc.
- Troubleshooting A/V equipment when there are technical questions or problems related to A/V equipment and identifying appropriate solutions.
- Serve as on-sight A/V support for events that take place in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union and the Olscamp Hall Conference Center.
- Respond to requests from Conference and Event Services clients, guests and staff.
- Provide basic instruction on the operation of A/V equipment to customers as necessary.
- Assist in conducting inventory of A/V equipment as requested or as needed.
- Cleaning duties (including sweeping, dusting, emptying trash and checking supplies) in the meeting rooms and equipment care and maintenance.
- Inspect rooms for damage, cleanliness and document issues to be addressed. Give documentation to supervisor.
- Be aware of emergency procedures and troubleshoot concerns throughout the facility.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as needed.

- General knowledge of computers, presentation software, and A/V equipment

- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills
- Flexible hours for availability (including evenings and weekends) when the building is open
