Description

We are seeking an energetic and dynamic Bus Driver Substitute.

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) coordinates services for over 1,000 people with developmental disabilities in Wood County. Our mission is to support, empower, and inspire. The ideal candidate will be a highly self‑motivated problem solver, flexible, detail oriented, and is a team player with time management skills, organizational skills, and leadership skills.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide safe transportation for individuals receiving services from the Wood County Board of DD from home to site of services and return. Responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of the passengers while in transit. Will operate a vehicle in a safe and lawful manner while transporting individuals receiving services and/or performing work related duties.
  • Provide safe care and minimal maintenance of the vehicle and equipment and complete required reports such as mileage, fuel, pre‑trip, and post‑trip inspection, etc.
  • Shall be responsible for implementing prescribed measures and techniques for behavior support and medical issues in accordance with student Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
  • Duties such as, but not limited to representing agency to community through attendance at meetings or presentations before groups.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, etc. designed to enhance professional growth.
  • Assume other related duties as assigned by supervisor and/or administration.

Education/Experience Requirements
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must have 5 years verifiable driving experience.
  • Maintain, possess, or obtain an Ohio CDL operators license endorsed with both School Bus and Passenger for the purpose of transporting individuals served and/or operation of a Board Owned School Bus. If license needs to be obtained Wood County Board of DD will assist the most qualified applicant in obtaining this licensure upon hire.

  • Must obtain and maintain any training, other licenses, or certification mandated by the Board (Positive Support First Training, First Aid, CPR Certification, etc.). Must attend annual 4‑hour Safety Training of bus drivers.
  • Maintain, possess, or obtain an Ohio CDL operators license endorsed with both School Bus and Passenger for the purpose of transporting individuals served and/or operation of a Board Owned School Bus. Must maintain, possess, or obtain an Ohio Pre‑service Training certificate (OAC 3301‑83‑10). Must have knowledge of State, Federal, and local rules, and regulations. Employee must possess/maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record as established by board policy.

    Employee must submit to a semi‑annual driver abstract record through the ODEW SFPS system. Employee must provide proof of liability insurance per Board procedure. Must have knowledge or ability to learn area and routes of board buses.
  • All new employees must have Bus Driver Physical (Form T-8) and a one‑step PPD test to determine fitness for duty. Initial medical examination must be completed before driving board vehicles.
