Corrections Lieutenant - WEC Detention Facility

Location:

McCook, NE

• Responsible for specific shift of a custody force.
• Conduct special investigations; resolve problems between incarcerated individuals.
• Supervise the performance of all assigned security staff, and indirect supervision of other institutional staff.
• Conduct roll call and handle administrative paperwork.
• Supervise custody activities such as searches, institutional tours, visitor & inmate escort, and initial commander in emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Post‑high school coursework/training in Criminal Justice or related Behavioral field and three years of progressively responsible corrections experience.
• Experience or coursework/training in supervision and leadership.
• Must be able to legally possess firearms and ammunition.
• No felony or domestic abuse related convictions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year of supervisory experience.
• Experience using Kronos, or other electronic timekeeping system, in a supervisory capacity.
• Experience working for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.

Other:

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Successful completion of background check.
• Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre‑employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test.
• Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
