Salary Range: $–$ (general guideline). Pay offered will be determined based on scope, responsibilities, qualifications, and market factors.
Location:
Lead, South Dakota. Onsite role.
- Work underground 1mile with rotating two 10‑hour shifts/day, 4days per week and a weekend shift. Shift schedule may change through various work phases.
- Monitor ESH policies and procedures for LBNF and DUNE subprojects to assure compliance with project, Fermilab, SURF, and all applicable local, state, federal regulations and DOE orders.
- Initiate, perform, and document daily jobsite inspections with a focus on hazard recognition, unsafe behaviors, corrective actions, and lessons learned.
- Assist ESH matters in project plans, including strategizing technical solutions and alternatives.
- Participate in developing the LBNF/DUNE construction and detector installation work planning and control process, including support for the Build Plan and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) process.
- Support ESH program audits, incident investigations, and trend analysis to identify concerns and implement improvements.
- Report ESH issues (incidents, injuries, near‑miss incidents) to the LBNF/DUNE Deputy ESH Manager.
- Ensure compliance with accident/incident reporting and investigation requirements.
- Prepare reports for the LBNF/DUNE Deputy ESH Manager based on observations, data interpretation, and current regulations.
- Routinely interact with Fermilab, SURF, DOE, project staff, and stakeholders on ESH issues.
- Provide guidance and interpretations on ESH matters and issues related to LBNF/DUNE construction and installation activities.
- Participate in weekly ESH Stakeholders meetings, shift start daily work‑planning meetings, weekly FDC Planning Meetings, and weekly ESH facility walkthroughs involving project, Fermilab, SURF, and DOE ESH oversight staff.
- Perform all duties in accordance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in ESH and/or QA discipline or related field.
- Minimum of 7years of experience in health and safety, regulatory compliance, or related field.
- Working knowledge of policies, regulations, specifications, and requirements governing health and safety, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Strong knowledge of formalized work planning and control processes, including task‑driven hazard analysis.
- Demonstrated technical and analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with incident tracking databases.
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work in a high‑production environment (50+ hours/week, including nights and weekends).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with project, Fermilab, and stakeholder personnel.
- Strong analytical skills to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions.
- Proficiency in MS Office and document management systems.
