The Elementary STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Teacher provides innovative, hands‑on instruction that integrates science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics into a cohesive learning model. The STEAM teacher fosters creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills while supporting district curriculum standards and enhancing student engagement through project‑based learning experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Design and implement engaging, standards‑aligned STEAM curriculum for elementary students.
- Facilitate inquiry‑based, project‑based, and hands‑on learning experiences.
- Integrate technology tools, engineering design processes, and creative arts into core academic instruction.
- Promote computational thinking, coding, robotics, and digital literacy skills appropriate for elementary learners.
- Create a classroom environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and safe experimentation.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Assess student progress using formative and summative measures aligned to district standards.
- Collaborate with grade‑level teachers to integrate STEAM concepts across content areas.
- Maintain and manage STEAM lab materials, equipment, and technology resources.
- Ensure safe and appropriate use of tools, materials, and technology.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and program initiatives.
- Participate in professional development and remain current in STEAM best practices.
- Support district initiatives and contribute to school improvement efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.
- Knowledge of elementary curriculum standards and instructional strategies.
- Understanding of STEM/STEAM integration and project‑based learning.
- Ability to incorporate technology, coding platforms, robotics kits, and engineering challenges into instruction.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Ability to foster creativity and student engagement.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Organizational skills to manage materials and lab resources efficiently.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Valid state teaching certification appropriate for elementary education.
- Endorsement or experience in STEM/STEAM education preferred.
- Experience with coding, robotics, makerspace tools, or engineering design preferred.
- Prior elementary teaching experience preferred.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift instructional materials and equipment.
- Ability to safely supervise students in a lab/makerspace setting.
- Classroom and STEAM lab environment.
- May require supervision of students during special events, competitions, or showcases.
