Job Title: 2026 Summer Enrichment Aide
Reports To: Summer Program Coordinator, Teacher, Federal Programs Director, or Principal
Job Summary: The 2026 Summer Enrichment Aide will provide a well-organized, smooth-functioning class environment where students can engage fully in the Summer Enrichment or Special Education programs. The aide will also help facilitate safe transportation for special education students who cannot be transported by conventional school buses. This role involves direct interaction with students, supporting educational activities, and assisting teachers in a variety of administrative and classroom tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Classroom Support
- Aid in creating an environment where students can benefit from the instructional program and resources.
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce the learning of skills or material introduced by the teacher.
- Administer, score, and record achievement and diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher.
- Individualized Support
- Assist the teacher in developing strategies to reinforce material based on the needs, interests, and abilities of individual students.
- Help students with independent study, enrichment work, and remedial tasks assigned by the teacher.
- Classroom Materials
- Operate and care for classroom instructional equipment.
- Assist students in mastering equipment or instructional materials, and perform simple tasks like sharpening pencils, carrying lunch trays, etc.
- Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other instructional materials.
- Student Supervision
- Supervise students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, and trips to the office, school nurse, or itinerant teacher stations.
- Assist with special student transportation needs, including accompanying students to meet special buses or public carriers.
- General Classroom Maintenance
- Maintain bulletin boards and classroom displays, keeping them up-to-date and relevant to the curriculum.
- Help with large group activities such as reading aloud, storytelling, or group drill work.
- Assist with reading, listening to students read, and engage in other forms of oral communication.
- Health and Physical Care
- Help with physical tasks such as putting on and removing outerwear, using the bathroom, and moving between classrooms as needed.
- Assist with wash-up routines, and help with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
- Support physical therapy exercises as prescribed by the county's physical therapist and document activities.
- Special Education Support
- Provide specialized health care (Phase I and Phase II) for students with special needs as per doctor's prescriptions and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This may include tasks such as catheterization, suctioning, or tube feeding.
- Assist with diaper changes or implementing toilet training programs.
- Administrative Support
- Check student attendance and record attendance information.
- Collect and record money as assigned.
- Assist with the correction of papers, monitoring of tests, and helping with makeup work.
- General Duties
- Alert the regular teacher to any problems or special information about individual students.
- Serve as the primary resource and support for substitute teachers in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Participate in in-service training programs as assigned.
- Ethical and Confidentiality Standards
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality concerning student information, in line with professional expectations for educators.
- Must be a current Lincoln County Schools Aide
- This position is temporary and will be based on the Summer Enrichment program's schedule in 2026.
- Pay: $20 per hour
- Work Hours:
8–3pm – May be required to ride school bus to accompany students with special needs.
