Adjunct Faculty – Environmental Science
Kean University seeks qualified individuals to teach Meteorology, Earth Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Environmental Management, Environmental Science, and Geography courses in person at the Union or Kean Ocean campus. Courses may include a laboratory component.
All adjunct positions are non‑tenure track and require a master’s degree in a related field and teaching experience unless otherwise indicated. Candidates with an ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or another acceptable disciplinary doctorate are encouraged to apply. Proficiency with a Learning Management System is required, consistent with University guidelines.
Availability
:
Adjunct faculty teaching a one, three (3), or four (4) credit class must provide at least one hour of office hours outside of class each week during the semester. For each additional class the requirement is an additional 30 minutes of availability. Those teaching fewer than three (3) credits must provide at least thirty (30) minutes of availability each week.
All adjuncts may offer additional office hours at their discretion.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay:
Effective September 2025, $2,100 per credit;
Effective September 2026, $2,225 per credit. Beginning in the 13th semester taught, adjuncts receive an additional $75 per credit. - Retirement:
Adjuncts are enrolled in a state‑administered retirement plan when eligible. - Health:
Eligible adjuncts may enroll in the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
