Position OverviewAdjunct Faculty – Special Education (Teaching Undergraduate and Graduate courses in person and online at the Union campus).
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses in Human Exceptionality, Families as Collaborators, Classroom Management, and Special Education Methods in the Classroom.
- Teach graduate courses in Physiological Bases of Learning and Behavior, Assessment in Special Education, and Inclusive Educational Practices & IEP Development.
- Provide at least one hour of office availability per week for each three‑credit or four‑credit class taught; provide an additional 30 minutes per additional class.
- Provide at least 30 minutes of office availability per week for each teaching job that is fewer than three credits.
- Schedule office hours in person or virtually to meet student needs.
- Master’s degree in a related field; ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate is encouraged.
- Teaching experience in New Jersey public schools; proficiency in New Jersey Professional Teaching Standards, Competencies, and Administrative Code.
- Experience teaching in a learning management system (LMS) consistent with university guidelines.
- Flexibility in both morning and evening availability.
- Pay: $2,100 per credit (effective September 2025) and $2,225 per credit (effective September 2026).
- Additional $75 per credit for adjuncts teaching their 13th semester and beyond.
- Enrollment in a state‑administered retirement plan, when eligible.
- Eligible for the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
- Cover letter indicating availability for days, evenings, or weekends and preferred campus location.

Additional InformationEmployment may be required at any of Kean’s New Jersey campus locations or affiliated work sites, including the Union campus, Kean Ocean (Toms River), Kean Skylands (Jefferson Township), Kean Jersey City, and others. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global.
