Position: Second Grade Teacher Lake Worth Christian School Our vision is to "Grow Christian Leaders"

Job Summary:

The Second Grade Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an engaging instructional environment that guides and encourages students to achieve their academic, social, and spiritual potential. This role integrates a biblical worldview into all areas of instruction and operates under the supervision of the Elementary Principal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

Faith & Character Integration
  • Ability to integrate biblical worldview and character development into daily instruction
  • Modeling of Christ-like character, integrity, and kindness
  • Comfort leading prayer, devotionals, or faith-based discussions appropriate for young learners
  • Instructional Planning and Delivery
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, and tests following established procedures.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
Social-Emotional & Developmental Skills
  • Strong knowledge of child development for ages 6–7
  • Ability to create a warm, structured, and emotionally safe classroom
  • Skill in teaching and modeling self-regulation, empathy, and conflict resolution
  • Patience, flexibility, and a nurturing presence
  • Ability to support students transitioning from 1st grade
Classroom Management and Student Support
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing classroom rules and school procedures.
  • Maintain discipline per school policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work.
Assessment and Reporting
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and development.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and projects.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and development.
  • Prepare and submit required reports on students and activities.
Communication and Collaboration
  • Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and parents regarding progress and student needs.
  • Participate in school, department, and parent meetings as needed.
  • Encourage and support parent and community involvement.
Professional Development and Other Duties
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, including clubs, student organizations, and school events, as directed.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities and maintain relevant certifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:
  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university in teaching or a related field.
  • Florida state certification in the appropriate subject area (or the ability to obtain certification within five years of hire).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Proficiency in relevant technology to enhance instruction and learning.
  • Commitment to punctuality, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Ability to meet professional teaching standards and requirements set by the school and state.
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Must operate computers, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
