Hunters Run sits on 990 acres in Southeast Florida, near Boynton Beach. The Club amenities include 54 holes of championship golf, 30 Racquet Sports courts, a Fitness Center, and multiple dining areas. The community has over 1,600 residences. The Club’s goal is to have the attributes, facilities, and operations that qualify for a Platinum Club recognition.

Hunters Run 3 championship 18-hole golf courses, East, North, and South, are uniquely designed and beautifully manicured with fairways and greens that appeal to golfers of all skills. There are also two practice ranges, an expansive putting green, and a short-game complex. The South and North courses are scheduled for renovations.

Position Summary

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for assisting the Golf Course Superintendent in managing, directing, and leading the team in maintaining the Club’s North Course.

Responsibilities Include
  • Scheduling and leading the team by delegating assignments, providing guidance, training, coaching, and assistance to ensure work is completed as expected and in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring the golf course is maintained and in proper playing condition.
  • Supervising, leading, and assisting in the daily set‑up and maintenance of the golf course.
  • Supervising, leading, and assisting in all planting, fertilizing, and care of turf, plants, shrubs, trees, and other facilities on the golf course.
  • Ensuring all crew are properly trained on the operation, maintenance, care, and storage of equipment, and issues are reported promptly and appropriately to the Equipment Manager.
  • Observing daily playing conditions, including mowing quality, green speeds, bunker conditions, course setup, and soil moisture.
  • Inspecting and maintaining course drainage, irrigation, and watering systems.
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive safety program that is in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and ensures standards are practiced.
  • Communicating, as necessary, with other department personnel to discuss conditions of the facilities, maintenance plans, and scheduled events.
  • Ensuring chemicals, petroleum, and other controlled products are used, stored, recorded, and disposed of in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and are efficiently utilized.
  • Attending employee and management meetings, turf conferences, workshops, and other educational programs to maintain a current knowledge of technical and turf innovations and changes that may affect the department’s operations.
  • Performing golf course maintenance tasks, including those assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent or Director of Golf Course Maintenance, and other tasks as directed.
Qualifications (knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)
  • BS or Associate degree or certificate in Turf Maintenance or related experience.
  • Experience in golf course maintenance with a progressive career track.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and team-building skills.
  • Florida Pesticide license or ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Experience with Bermuda grass or warm-season grasses is desirable.
  • Ability to speak or communicate effectively with a Spanish and/or Creole-speaking staff.
  • Ability to work a schedule that includes some weekends and holidays.
