Join the City of Boca Raton The City of Boca Raton is seeking a skilled Plant Electrician / Industrial Maintenance Electrician to support critical water and wastewater operations. In this role, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment essential to keeping treatment facilities operating safely and efficiently. What

You’ll Do
  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install electrical and electronic equipment
  • Maintain low- and medium-voltage electrical systems up to 5,000 volts
  • Troubleshoot and repair electric motors, motor starters, motor controls, switch gear, and power distribution equipment
  • Maintain and repair Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and soft starters
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain emergency generators and transformers
  • Install and repair electrical panels, lighting systems, conduits, wiring devices, and related electrical infrastructure
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) to document work activities
  • Participate in a 24-hour emergency call-out rotation
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • In addition, candidates must possess ONE of the following:
  • Completion of a four-year electrical apprenticeship program plus seven (7) years of experience as an industrial, construction, or maintenance electrician
  • Journeyman Electrician certification plus seven (7) years of experience as an industrial, construction, or maintenance electrician
  • Ten (10) years of experience as an industrial plant maintenance electrician, industrial electrician, maintenance electrician, or plant electrical technician
Preferred Knowledge & Experience
  • Industrial electrical maintenance
  • Water or wastewater treatment facilities
  • Motor controls and electrical troubleshooting
  • Power distribution systems
  • Switchgear and emergency power systems
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Arc-flash safety and electrical safety procedures
  • Reading electrical blueprints, diagrams, and schematics
  • Preventive maintenance and diagnostic testing
License Requirements

Valid Florida Class E Driver License

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to participate in a rotating emergency call schedule
  • Ability to work safely around energized electrical equipment
  • Ability to wear required PPE including arc-flash gear, flame-resistant clothing, safety footwear, hearing protection, and safety harnesses
  • Must comply with the City’s tobacco-free employment policy
