Job :
Lutron is seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Leader to guide and grow a team delivering firmware that powers the lighting, shading, and smart home solutions used in millions of homes and commercial spaces worldwide. In this role, you will own delivery of projects by converging decisions across multiple teams, develop and unlock potential in others, collaborate with Product Managers, Software Architects, and other parts of the company to develop solutions, and apply emerging technologies to solve complex problems.
Responsibilities- Lead a high‑performing firmware engineering team by coaching engineers, setting clear expectations, and creating a culture of ownership and accountability
- Translate real‑world customer and device constraints into scalable firmware solutions
- Deliver world‑class automated manufacturing testing solutions for the products being developed
- Drive cross‑team technical alignment for features spanning firmware, embedded Linux, cloud services, and client applications
- Balance long‑term maintainability with near‑term product delivery
- Drive consensus with appropriate stakeholders
- Mentor junior software engineers
- Implement, unit‑test, and integrate solutions in collaboration with multiple developers
- Work with senior engineers to review solutions
- Resolve technical issues, reported bugs and field issues in a timely manner
- Lead technical design and architectural decisions
- Minimum 8+ years of experience post academics
- 3+ years of experience in team leadership and supervision
- Demonstrable experience in firmware development (C, C++)
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 for all degrees earned
- Experience developing firmware for connected devices, IoT platforms, or smart home systems
- Comfortable working cross‑functionally across engineering disciplines and product management
- Demonstrated success leading software teams or projects
- A passion for coaching and mentoring junior engineers
- Proven troubleshooting skills across system boundaries, including diagnosing issues reported from field or customer environments
