The Category Merchandising Manager – Simms is responsible for driving the strategic direction, development, and performance of assigned Simms product categories. This role serves as the consumer, market, and category expert, translating consumer insights, marketplace trends, competitive intelligence, and business objectives into compelling product assortments that drive revenue growth, profitability, consumer engagement, and long-term brand equity. This position leads seasonal and annual merchandising strategies, including category planning, line architecture, assortment optimization, product lifecycle management, pricing, and margin performance.

The Category Merchandising Manager works closely with Product Development, Design, Marketing, Sales, Operations, S&OP, and other cross-functional partners to ensure Simms delivers the right products, in the right assortment, through the right channels, at the right time. The role combines strategic thinking with hands‑on execution. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of consumer behavior, merchandising principles, product categories, and marketplace dynamics, along with the analytical and influencing skills necessary to translate insights into actionable business and product decisions.

This position reports to the Sr. Director, Merchandising - Simms, and is based out of our Bozeman, MT office. As the Category Merchandising Manager – Simms, you will have an opportunity to: develop and execute category strategies and seasonal line plans that align with Simms brand strategy, consumer needs, revenue targets, gross margin objectives, and marketplace opportunities. Own category line architecture and assortment strategy, determining the appropriate breadth, depth, price points, product segmentation, and channel mix to meet consumer and business needs.

Serve as the category subject matter expert, maintaining a deep understanding of Simms consumers, competitors, market dynamics, emerging trends, and the evolving fishing and outdoor performance marketplace. Analyze consumer insights, sales performance, market data, competitive intelligence, and channel trends to identify opportunities for category growth, innovation, rationalization, and improved profitability. Translate consumer and marketplace insights into clear product and merchandising priorities that inform the product development pipeline.

Partner with Product Development and Design to establish product briefs, category priorities, product objectives, timelines, and success measures. Lead merchandising input throughout the Innovation‑to‑Commercialization (I2C) process, preparing for key stage gates, driving cross‑functional alignment, and ensuring product concepts support the overall category and line strategy. Drive assortment planning and product lifecycle management, including new product introductions, core product management, seasonal offerings, product transitions, and SKU rationalization.
