JOB DESCRIPTION:

BOZEMAN LEAD CANVASSER

The Bozeman Lead Canvasser is responsible for leading MCV’s Bozeman canvass team in daily voter contact, including coordinating daily canvass operations, training and coaching canvassers, and staffing community events.

The Lead Canvasser will communicate regularly with MCV leadership to ensure goals are met and the team is working efficiently. The Lead Canvasser will update schedules and campaign metrics nightly, report vital numbers, and alert leadership to any issues that arise. The Lead Canvasser is expected to actively problem solve, help team members complete their duties, and participate in daily canvassing activities.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading and coordinating a small team of canvassers, ensuring accountability
  • Recruiting, training, and onboarding new canvassers
  • Coaching canvassers to strengthen messaging and improve voter conversations
  • Assisting team members in completing required duties
  • Knocking on voters’ doors and having guided conversations about conservation issues
  • Updating canvass metrics and team schedules nightly
  • Communicating regularly with MCV leadership and Bozeman Regional Organizer
  • Maintaining and reporting accurate field data and progress toward campaign goals
  • Troubleshooting on-the-ground issues and other duties as assigned

The Lead Canvasser should expect to travel within the Bozeman area. The Lead Canvasser will work outside for at least 80% of the workday and be on their feet and walking for at least 80% of each shift.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A strong commitment to MCV’s mission and goals
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills while also being a self-motivator
  • Clear verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the public and the canvassing team
  • Experience following detailed directions and proactively seeking feedback from a supervisor
  • Ability to learn and share important information with the public with excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivation and ability to problem solve
  • Access to reliable transportation AND a reliable smartphone or tablet
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week, with evening and weekend availability strongly preferred
COMPENSATION

MCV offers a competitive hourly wage of $28 to $32 per hour, contingent on experience and location. Bonus opportunities throughout the season may be offered. Full-time employees of MCV are eligible for health, dental, and optical insurance as well as retirement benefits.
