Job Description
As a C.F.I. you will be responsible for instructing students in a classroom setting, conducting training flights, determining student proficiency, and reporting on student progress. C.F.I.’s are responsible for training students in subjects such as risk management, aircraft systems, operating procedures, handling emergencies, problem analysis, aircraft navigation, radio operation and aerodynamics. You will also ensure students understand and practice all aspects of Summit Aviation’s policies and safety procedures.
This position works with minimal supervision.
- Take inquiries from potential students and schedule flights for students
- Conduct tours of facilities and familiarize customers with Summit Aviation, Inc. policies, procedures, and flight training courses
- Perform those flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulations in accordance with the approved Training Course Outline
- Maintain Instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Accurately maintain all appropriate records, including student training records, student logbooks, and computer records
- Regularly schedule each assigned student to ensure satisfactory progress through the course
- Ensure that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by all assigned students as stipulated in the applicable Training Course Outline
- Initiate stage check requests for assigned students
- Ensure timely course completion of all flight students assigned, including completion of required paperwork
- Monitor the maintenance condition of the training aircraft and inform Inflight Pilot Training maintenance personnel of any questionable items
- Recommend curriculum and courseware improvements when appropriate and develop new curriculum or courseware as assigned
- File incident reports as necessary to report any observed safety violations or situations that may affect the safety of flight
- Attend administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor development meetings as assigned
- Perform other Trans Medics tasks and duties as assigned/required
- This position will not have management responsibilities
- Identify student training issues and seek assistance from supervisor prior to execution
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress and recommend for qualification or additional training

- Possible exposure to chemicals
- Potential injury from transferring equipment
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures
- Requires frequent travel
- High school diploma or equivalent
- FAA certificated Flight Instructor (CFI)
- Current FAA Medical Certificate
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Great attention to detail
- Practical knowledge of:
- Federal Aviation Regulations
- Fundamentals of Instruction
- Practical Test Standards (PTS), aircraft systems, aerodynamics
- MEI or CFII Preferred (Not Required)
