Brief

Position Overview

The Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship offers a Bachelor of Science in Business with required and elective analytics courses throughout the curriculum for all concentrations (management, marketing, finance, accounting, and hospitality management). Analytics courses are also taught in the M.S. in Innovation and Management graduate program. Primarily, we are seeking experienced analytics professionals capable of teaching a variety of established analytics courses within our curriculum, which includes business analytics, data analytics I and II, operations management, applied data science, and operations and supply chain management.

Additionally, we are interested in candidates capable of developing analytics coursework in contemporary and industry‑relevant areas in our concentrations.

Faculty Status

Non‑Tenure Track Faculty – Position Number 4A6471, Full Faculty Rank, Appointment Type Non‑Tenure Track (Pooled) Contract Term Other, Semester Fall or Spring (If other, specify). FTE Varies. Salary commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications. Contract Type LOA. Recruitment Type Open.

General Statement

Montana State University invites experienced analytics professionals to the Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship faculty as Instructors, delivering high‑quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We seek dedicated professionals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and can collaborate effectively with faculty and staff. The ideal candidate will contribute to student success and academic excellence while supporting the mission of Montana State University through engaging, real‑world marketing education.

Instructional assignments are contingent upon departmental needs and the availability of funding.

Applications are accepted on a continual basis (unless otherwise indicated) and will be maintained in the pool for up to two years. After two years, candidates will be notified to resubmit their application materials for continued consideration.

Application materials will be reviewed by the appropriate search committee or hiring authority, and applicants will be notified if they are being considered for an open position. Non‑tenure‑track appointments may be part‑time or full‑time and vary in duration depending on the specific needs of the department or program. Salary is dependent on the number of courses taught and the duration of the appointment.

and Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate analytics courses in on‑campus and/or online formats, ensuring high‑quality, engaging instruction.
  • Incorporate real‑world applications and experiential learning to enhance student understanding of data and business analytics concepts.
  • Stay current with industry trends, professional standards, and advancements in analytics education to maintain course relevance.
  • Foster a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Master’s degree in a computational field related to business analytics (e.g., M.S. in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering) from an accredited institution, OR a Master’s degree from an accredited institution, plus a minimum of five years of significant analytics work experience in the field.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in analytics, and demonstrated ability to bring current, real‑world case studies into the classroom.
  • Proven track record of applying analytics in complex sectors such as supply chain, healthcare, finance, or marketing technology.
  • A strong ability to present technical insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Strong technical knowledge of data analytics software and tools (e.g., spreadsheets, SQL, and visualization software).
