Zoot Adventure Learning Academy (ZALA) is a child‑care center in Bozeman, Montana focused on providing a nurturing environment where families thrive. We offer a play‑based approach that promotes children’s self‑worth, problem‑solving, and school readiness. All three classrooms—infant, toddler, and preschool—are supported by a team of teachers working under the Early Childhood Lead Teacher to implement the center’s educational philosophy.

Schedule
  • This position will be scheduled for 40 hours per week Monday – Friday.
Essential Job Functions
  • Assist in the implementation of the program in accordance with the policy and philosophy of the center.
  • Respond to the individual needs of children with respect for their interests, challenges, and learning styles.
  • Prepare the childcare environment, set up interest centers, and supply needed materials.
  • Respond to children with dignity and respect.
  • Help children become aware of their roles as integral members of a group.
  • Assist with general housekeeping tasks.
  • Assist Director in appropriate ways as directed.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the center at all times.
  • Attend all staff meetings, recommended training programs, and conferences.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all records of children, families, and staff.
  • Report any suspected abuse to the supervisor immediately.
  • Arrange and maintain a classroom environment in accordance with program goals and philosophy.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment per program goals and state regulations.
  • Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials.
  • Keep all appropriate records such as attendance and time sheets.
  • Meet and maintain all applicable licensing regulations.
  • Achieve a service‑focused culture with emphasis on delivering on‑time, high‑quality products and services to internal and external customers.
  • Other duties as assigned—this list is not exhaustive and may include helping others in the same or different departments as directed.
Education, Training, and Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma (preferred)
  • Certifications
    • Adult/Infant First Aid/AED/CPR Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
    • Valid State of Montana Driver License with clean driving record.
    • Current Immunizations
      • Tetanus (within the past 10 years)
      • MMR (measles/mumps/rubella)
  • Level 1 or higher on MT Practitioner Registry
  • Previous childcare experience with ages 6 weeks – 6 years old (preferred)
  • Excellent oral and written language skills for communication with children and adults.
  • Ability to successfully pass state‑regulated background screening including criminal record, Child & Adult Protective Services, FBI fingerprinting, motor vehicle records, and health attestation.
  • Willingness to complete 16 hours of annual approved training or an equal combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to move about inside a classroom environment, operate computers and office equipment, maintain frequent written and verbal communication, interact with children, parents and staff, and spend time outdoors.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, walk, stand, sit on the floor, and lift up to 40 lbs, participating in all physical activities in a childcare setting.
Working Conditions
  • Position will take place primarily in an office setting.
  • Travel required 1% of the time.
  • Occasional overtime required.
