Overview
Academic Services Coordinator – Program Coord II Classified, Contract Term, Semester. Salary $21.99 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications. FTE 1.0, Benefits Eligible.

- Coordinate graduate program activities including application processing, classroom scheduling, student record maintenance, and graduation procedures.
- Support graduate student orientation and committee activities.
- Process graduate awards, fellowships, and related budgets.
- Generate all departmental correspondence to graduate students; respond to general graduate program inquiries.
- Coordinate undergraduate non-teaching minor and undergraduate program matters such as student registration for restricted-entry courses, internship and independent study record maintenance, and academic progress.
- Coordinate advising efforts and assign faculty advisors.
- Meet with prospective students and families.
- Liaise between NAS, AIANSSS, and campus student services offices.
- Plan and coordinate departmental events including venue booking, travel and lodging arrangements, budget management, invitations, refreshments, and meeting materials.
- Coordinate events and reservations for the American Indian Hall Building.
- Work with the NAS Department Head, Dean’s Office, and University Communications to support newsletters, promotional materials, website and social media updates.
- Coordinate recruitment events with AIANSSS, including MSU Fridays and statewide initiatives.
- Provide front-line customer service and daily office support; maintain shared spaces and schedules.
- Process course scheduling, catalog updates, and textbook orders.
- Compile and analyze enrollment, course, and curriculum data.
- Provide guidance on department and university policies with the Graduate School, Registrar’s Office, and Office of International Programs.
- Progressively responsible administrative work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Demonstrated customer service experience working with constituents from all backgrounds.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments, meet deadlines, and exercise adaptability with a high degree of accuracy.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and computer databases.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Knowledge of MSU procedures and policies or previous experience in an academic department in higher education.
- Knowledge of American Indian cultures and the ability to communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Be self-motivated and able to follow through on tasks and projects to completion.
- Show ability to learn MSU policies, procedures, and systems for student data tracking.
- Maintain productive and positive working relationships with coworkers, faculty, students, supervisors, and the public.
- Represent the Department of Native American Studies professionally and courteously.
