Job OverviewHoused in the Liberal Studies program, the Global Health minor allows students to create an interdisciplinary understanding of health issues and health care in a global context. The minor provides a solid foundation in social, cultural, epidemiological, environmental, and nutritional determinants of health and explores the challenges that require global health solutions. This role involves teaching Global Health courses such as LS 104:
Intro to Global Health, typically taught in fall and spring semesters.
- Design and deliver Global Health courses as assigned.
- If teaching online, complete specialized online training and attend online workshops regularly.
- Assist with curriculum and course development when applicable.
- Collaborate with other faculty to ensure consistent standards across courses.
- Participate in faculty meetings and workshops when called.
- Participate in program and university assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Hold appropriate office hours and be available for student questions and concerns.
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a field related to global health.
- Demonstrated experience teaching interdisciplinary courses.
- Demonstrated knowledge of college student development.
- Terminal degree in a field related to global health.
- Demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff diversity.
- Engage in pedagogy that involves students in the learning process.
- Effectively collaborate with faculty and staff.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Take initiative, exercise good judgment, and work well independently.
- Support Montana State University’s values for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Salary is commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications and is dependent on number of courses taught and duration. This part‑time appointment varies in length (couple of weeks, a semester, or a full academic year). Positions with 0.5 FTE or more may be represented by the Associated Faculty of Montana State University (AFMSU); those with less than 0.5 FTE are not represented by the Union.
