K-12 Coordinator

Museum of the Rockies (MOR) seeks a creative and dedicated K-12 Coordinator. This position is responsible for managing and developing K-12 and family educational offerings. The coordinator manages in-person school visits and assists in the creation of new programs and partnerships. MOR is the most visited human‑made attraction in Montana, a non‑profit museum, division of Montana State University, AAM accredited museum, Smithsonian Affiliate, and an accredited repository for state and federal fossils.

• Field Trip Management:
  Manage K-12 field trips by booking experiences, communicating with educators, and coordinating visit logistics.
• Curriculum Development:
  Collaborate with the Director to develop creative, object-based, phenomenon-based, and standards-aligned curricula that promote critical thinking.
• Program Evaluation:
  Create and collect evaluations and data regarding educational programs to implement improvements and maintain records.
• Camp Leadership:
  Oversee existing summer camps and serve as the director for these programs.
• Partnership Cultivation:
  Establish new relationships with teachers and other museum education departments to build community partnerships.
• Volunteer Coordination:
  Coordinate with the Volunteer Manager to assign volunteers to K-12 programs.
• Instruction and Events:
  Lead educational programs as necessary and assist the education team with the execution of special events.

$22.003 - $27.504 hourly, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications. • Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of experience working in an informal education setting,
  or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
• Demonstrated experience in creating innovative standard-based curriculum and programming for a variety of learning styles in an informal educational setting.
• Demonstrated experience partnering and co‑teaching with volunteers, students, and other professionals on educational programming.
• Demonstrated experience working in an interdisciplinary environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in education, museum studies, museum education, or similar field.
• 2+ years working in a museum environment as an educator and coordinator with field trips.
• Demonstrated experience supervising staff, particularly informal educators, or serving in leadership roles.
• Demonstrated success in creating innovative educational curriculum or programming in a museum in both the natural and social sciences.
• Interest, ability, and experience collecting and analyzing data.

• Ability to work selected weekends and evenings as planned in advance.
• Possession of a valid driver license, an acceptable driving record, and the ability to meet all State of Montana requirements to operate university vehicles.
